LigneParents provides access to professional counsellors:

• For all parents of children aged 0 to 20 in Québec

Without ever passing judgement, the professional LigneParents counsellors adapt their intervention method to the caller’s individual situation in order to help fathers and mothers take action. Often suffering from feelings of powerlessness or guilt, parents—with a counsellor’s assistance—can find ways to regain confidence in their parenting role.

Parenting : the role of a lifetime

Reassure and inform parents in their parenting role, here is the essence of LigneParents. They call about their infants, or their teen, they are in a crisis or looking for information… At any time, day or night, parents are greeted by a professional counsellor, ready to listen without ever judging them, support them and remind them that they remain the best person to raise their child.

The guide for the perfect parent does not exist! It is unfortunately common for parents to feel the pressure around, to feel judged or guilty about their thoughts and actions. It is the mission of LigneParents professional counsellors to restore their confidence in their parenting role.

 Why is the LigneParents service essential?

1. Reports of parental negligence to the Director of Youth Protection are on the rise, and prevention has proven to be effective.
   Over the years, thousands of parents have called LigneParents out of fear of losing their self control and resorting to violence.
    
2.  A growing number of parents suffer from anxiety, which has direct repercussions on the family and children.
   In the last year, 1,460 calls to LigneParents were from distraught, burned out and stressed parents needing to confide in somebody.
    
3. The divorce rate is on the rise; divorce is a heavy and stressful event for the whole family.
   LigneParents responds daily to many parents in the midst of separation or divorce, or who are experiencing difficulties in their blended families.
    
4. In Québec, parents are all too often left to their own devices in dealing with their questions and worries.
   The professional counsellors at LigneParents deal with some 13,958 parents every year. They break their isolation and provide the timely support they need.
